Meet the HeyOrca team!
HeyOrca was founded to solve a common problem:
How can we make social media planning and collaboration seamless for marketing agencies and their clients?
With a little creativity and a TON of hustle, we’ve built the ultimate sandbox for social media planning, collaboration, and easy client approvals.
Meet the Team
Co-Founder & CEO
Originally from Malaysia, Joe graduated from Memorial University with a joint degree in Finance and Economics. An internship at a startup inspired him to create a solution to help agencies better manage social for their clients. He met his eventual co-founder, Sahand, while working as a campus ambassador for Microsoft. The rest, as they say, is history. Joe continues to be inspired by both the challenge and satisfaction of helping marketing teams around the world work smarter.
Co-Founder & CTO
Sahand has a background in both Computer Engineering and Computer Science. He launched his first entrepreneurial venture at the age of eight, cooling and reselling pop back to his family for 50 cents each. As the CTO of HeyOrca he focuses on aligning engineering efforts with customers’ needs, evolving the development team to deliver better solutions, and keeping ahead of technology trends that will benefit the marketing teams HeyOrca was built for.
Head of Growth
Cristian has 10 years of experience helping startups improve their market reach, strategic positioning, and disruptive potential. He is marketing professional with a broad range of experience and deep technical expertise; a self-taught web developer with a background in sales, who is particularly passionate about using qualitative insights to solve quantitative problems.
Sales Lead & Account Executive
Equal parts girl power, intuition, and french bulldog mom. Maggie has an academic background in the humanities and extensive experience in sales and customer service. At HeyOrca she can be found leading the pod in bad-dance-a-thons and sending messages in a bottle.
Wes’ aspiration to create better products for people made his switch from development into UX design an obvious choice. Always seeking a challenge and a place to grow his skills, Wes joined HeyOrca in early 2016 where he continually makes HeyOrca even more user-friendly. In his spare time, Wes enjoys furthering his design skills, writing about experiences and lessons he’s learned on his professional journey, a good craft beer, and the occasional video game.
Customer Experience Lead
Jacob’s interest in relationship-building and storytelling made his entry into sales and marketing an inevitability. His winding road eventually led him to his current role, developing exceptional customer experiences for the HeyOrca pod of customers. Jacob is also the obnoxiously proud father of @barneythemalamute, one of our many loveable office dogs.
“Never laugh at live dragons.” – Bilbo Baggins, The Hobbit
Customer Experience Manager
Think of a connect-the-dots puzzle, only without the numbers – that was the short version of Neil’s career before joining HeyOrca. With a Bachelor of Music (saxophone) and an MBA, Neil has dabbled in a little bit of everything from manufacturing to banking. His passion for supporting people, driven by a love of solving problems and getting things done, has led him to HeyOrca, where he finally found the numbers to complete the puzzle. His favourite quote? “We are all like one-winged angels. It is only when we help each other that we can fly.”
Sam joined HeyOrca as part of the customer experience team in June 2017, with a BA in Law & Society, and over ten years experience in the service industry. Turning frowns upside down is kind of her jam, and she’s a sucker for small wins. In her free time, you can find Sam spending time with her family, taking in some live music or reading a good book, and working on mastering the banjo.
Originally from Ottawa, Hasan has lived on both coasts and a few places in-between! With a strong background in customer service, he recently changed career paths and entered the world of sales. When not working he is busy running the volunteer group Project Kindness NL, the NL Beard and Moustache Club, and exploring the world with his three kids.
Ryan is a business grad from Memorial University, a former college basketball player, and a local townie. After spending his first post-university summer in southeast Asia, Ryan came across a young promising startup in his hometown, applied for the sales executive position, and hasn’t looked back. When he’s not hustling with the pod, you can find him beating Joe in FIFA.
Patrick joined HeyOrca in 2016 as a work term student, starting his SaaS journey in the Lead Generation role. Since then, he has worked as an outbound sales development rep, and most recently as an account executive, giving him the chance to work with customers at all stages of their journey. Outside of the office, Patrick enjoys giving back to the local start-up community, and working on social impact projects.
Stephanie joined the pod in 2017 with a background in strategic sales and human resources. She has worked for some of the top local companies in St. John’s and loves nothing more than to be a part of a hyper-growth company. When she isn’t swimming with the orcas, she can be found on the volleyball court, in a yoga class, or pursuing her artistic interests.
Ryan is a Bachelor of Commerce graduate with an array work experience ranging from project coordination to social media strategy. He loves working with the pod and thoroughly enjoys the teams drive to continuously improve all aspects of the business. Mercer spends most of his weekends outside or creating art and furniture. Hilary completed her business degree in 2017, and joined the pod a month later. Having 5+ years of experience in the sales industry in a corporate environment, she was whaley’ excited to immerse herself in the exciting and challenging startup world. Hilary loves to cook and travel, and dislikes writing in the third person while simultaneously trying to incorporate whale puns.
Sam has a background in the arts and about 10 years experience in building and supporting business processes. She enjoys: helping people work together effectively, poorly-drawn whiteboard cartoons, and collecting new nick-names from our resident Internet Paladin. Her favourite (work) quote is: “Take care of the people and the people will take care of the business.”

When not in the pod, Andrew can be found playing video games, watching hockey and football (while yelling at the TV), and spending time with his cat and dog.
Hailing from The Land of Wind and Ghosts, Peter was constructed on the second moon of Mars in the year 2279 by the EFSF (Earth Federal Space Forces).
He is an Internet Paladin, caffeine-powered robot, and 16 cats in a human suit, built for one purpose: to destroy Wiley’s army of evil robots build elegantly-architected web applications.
While not powering his fuel cells or cleaning themselves, Peter can be found lazing about in a cat-like state of readiness sharpening his razor-sharp dev management skills.

His favourite quote is, “A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.”
As a computer science undergraduate and a web developer at HeyOrca, Moustafa enjoys two splendid flavors of activity in his daily life. Moustafa joined HeyOrca in May 2017, and since then has been primarily working on the frontend of the product. He strongly believes in his personal motto, Docendo Discimus – Latin for “by teaching, we learn” – and so he does when spending his time outside the pod, as a tutor for Memorial University’s library, and a technology officer for the university’s Computer Science Society.
His interest in programming from a young age led Adam to pursue a degree in Computer Science from Memorial University. A recent addition to the development team, Adam helps ensure that the HeyOrca platform is running smoothly.
