What is CapCut?
CapCut is a free all-in-one platform for editing videos and images. Available on desktop and mobile, CapCut has a ton of AI-powered features that help remove backgrounds, add video captions, convert text to speech, resize media, and much more.
CapCut makes it easy for social media managers to find and customize viral video templates for TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and other platforms.
What are trending CapCut templates and why are they important?
After making videos on CapCut, creators can turn their content into templates others can use. Some CapCut templates become a viral trend by gaining a lot of traction on TikTok and Instagram. This makes it incredibly easy for companies and creators to hop on a trend and relate it to their brand.
Following social media trends helps brands improve performance by increasing reach and engagement. And using existing templates helps your team work quickly and efficiently.
How to find trending CapCut templates
You can find trending CapCut templates on your TikTok For You page. Reels created using a CapCut template usually have a banner saying “CapCut — Try this template.” If you find any you like, save them to your feed so you can easily find them later. CapCut’s template page also has a trending section you can scroll through.
However, these methods can take a lot of time. Instead, we suggest saving this blog that’s always up-to-date with the top trending templates, so you can focus on creating great content!
This week's trending short-form videos and new CapCut templates
Each week, we browse TikTok and Reels to find the latest trending videos and CapCut templates and we update this blog with our findings. Here are the top video trends and CapCut templates for this week:
1. “Asking what they’d do if a starving orphan came to the house” trend
This trend has us rolling! The trick is to ask someone a totally normal question, then reveal a very different question that supposedly prompted their reaction. For example, ask your coworker, “What would you do if a zombie broke into the office?” Then cut to you saying, “I asked my coworker what they’d do if a starving orphan came into the office,” before revealing their actual answer. The more unexpected the “question” sounds, the better.
2. “Girl grip” trend
Girl grip is still going strong! Grab your coworkers and show what everyone is holding onto throughout the day.
3. “Wait, what’s that song that goes like . . .” CapCut trending template
Got a camera roll full of adventures? This template makes it easy to turn those clips into a quick travel or photo dump. It could also work for a conference, event, team outing, or your latest brand adventure.
4. “2026 in 100 photos” free CapCut template
Okay, we know we’re nowhere near the end of the year, but this template is already making waves. Use it as a mid-year recap to highlight your favourite team moments, launches, events, milestones, or community moments from 2026 so far.
5. “I believe I can touch the sky” CapCut template
Counting down to vacation? This one’s for you. Use this CapCut template to build excitement around an upcoming trip, launch, event, product drop, or anything else your team is looking forward to.
6. “The damage that we do” trend
For this trend, all you have to do is share something that sounds unfortunate, then reveal the surprisingly good thing that comes with it. For non-profits, you could try something like: “When you have to ask for donations again . . . but it means you get to help even more people.”
7. “Stranger from the outside” trend
This one is perfect for poking fun at those coworkers who may as well work in another building. Use the audio to introduce the person who works on the other end of the office, the coworker you only see once a week, or even the teammate you somehow Slack all day despite sitting 20 feet away.
7. “Good morning it’s time to get up, have a great day” trend
Consider this your sign to romanticize your workday! Use the audio for a day-in-the-life, quick tips, morning routine, or even a “come to work with me” style Reel.
8. “[Role] vs ChatGPT” trend
Put your skills to the test! Show what a real person in your role creates compared with ChatGPT’s version. Social media managers could compare captions, content ideas, campaign concepts, or even a social strategy.
9. “Numbers on forehead” trend
These guessing games are still making the rounds! Have coworkers guess a number on each other’s foreheads, then turn it into a workplace challenge.
10. “AI flyers” trend
People are getting creative with hand-drawn flyers, and we love the DIY energy. Try it with your next campaign, event, product launch, or even a cheeky “please stop asking for revisions” office flyer.
11. “I thought about being a trophy wife, but . . .” trend
Girl boss energy has officially entered the chat. This is a fun one for women founders, CEOs, and business owners to show off what they’re building instead. You could also flip it for any career path or “what I thought I’d be vs. what I actually do” moment.
12. “Bedazzling” trend
People are physically bedazzling everything right now, and we’re here for it. Grab some rhinestones and give your product, packaging, office supplies, or even your laptop a little sparkle. It’s also a fun excuse to show off your brand personality and lean into the current whimsy trend.
13. “Natural sounds” trend
We’re seeing more brands lean into natural sounds like paper, packaging, typing, cooking, and other everyday noises. It’s a nice break from heavily edited content and gives your community a more behind-the-scenes feel. Try it for an office day, product packing, or creating something by hand.
Here is another example of something part of a campaign using natural sound.
14. “We will not use AI” trend
This one is a fun way to show off the human side of your brand. Use paper signs or cardboard to reveal what you won’t hand over to AI. For social media teams, you could try: “We will not use AI to reply to our community,” “We will not use AI for flyers or photos to promote ourselves,” or “We will not let AI replace our team.”
15. “Photoshoots from high school” trend
Remember those photoshoots from high school? This is your chance to bring back old pictures. You can show old logos, old products, old displays, throwback pictures of your founder, and more.

How to edit the text in a CapCut template
You can adjust the text on a video template in CapCut by selecting the “Text” tab and clicking on the text box you want to edit. From there you can write your own message, select a new font, change text size, move the text box, etc. Don’t be afraid to play with things to get them just right.

How to search fonts in CapCut
To change the font of a CapCut template, tap the “Text” tab, select “Font,” and browse the available options. To add a custom font, tap “Add font” and then the “+” button. This will allow you to access files and upload any font you choose. Once a custom font has been added to your CapCut account, it should always be available in the “Add font” tab.
How to add captions in CapCut
CapCut auto-captions help you easily add text to your video. In CapCut’s video editor, click on the “Captions” tab and select “Auto captions” and then “Start.” If there’s sound in your video, this should generate captions. These can be customized like other text elements in CapCut by changing the wording, size, position, font, colour, etc.

How to change audio in a CapCut Template
Follow these steps to change sounds in TikTok:
- After you’ve edited a template, “Export” the video and upload it to TikTok.
- In TikTok, tap “Add sound” and music choices will appear.

Adding video sound effects can help showcase transitions, enhance ASMR sounds, and make your content more engaging. You can do this easily in CapCut.
When editing a video project, click on a section where you’d like to add sound effects and tap “Audio” and “Sound FX”. A search tool will appear to help you find the sound you’re looking for. Test the sounds in search results and when you find one you like, click on the “+” sign. Then go back to your video to test the sound, adjust volume and placement, etc.

How to crop on CapCut or change a video’s aspect ratio
Whether working with a trending CapCut template or a new creation, cropping or resizing a video or photo in CapCut is easy. To crop, upload your video or photo and click on the cropping tool. Next, you can drag the corners of the image or video to crop it manually or select an aspect ratio and have CapCut do the work.
For videos, you can also play with its scale and adjust specific frames to create fun effects that zoom in or out as it plays.
If you want to resize instead, click on the photo or video in CapCut and open the resize tool. This will allow you to select from a list of common social media image sizes or customize the size of your content by specifying height and width. To finalize, tap “Resize” or “Resize on new page” and “Export” your content.
